Rachel McAdams has lightened up her naturally brown hair, just in time for the Oscars this weekend. Considering the 37-year-old movie star's track record has proven she's a fan of dramatic hair change-ups, we shouldn't be too surprised by her recent dye job. That being said, her latest shade of platinum definitely doesn't disappoint in terms of shock factor and our level of approval.
The Spotlight star revealed her envy-inducing look on Wednesday evening, and not only did she debut her newly lightened hair, but she had quite the cropped cut reaching just below her chin, giving us yet another style to silently consider for ourselves. Even though she's rocked this classic dye job before, we can't help but love it as if it were our first time seeing it. It's even giving off a slightly more mature Regina George vibe, which we're definitely a fan of.
In case you need a refresher on McAdams' previous looks, know that she has sported pretty much every hair color under the sun. How could we forget her blond highlights in Mean Girls? Her strawberry blond hue for The Notebook? Her chocolate brown curls in Wedding Crashers? And even those pink highlights back in 2007? Talk about being fearless with hair color.
In addition, we were able to chat with celebrity hairstylist, Mark Townsend, who will be styling McAdams' hair for the Oscars this Sunday. Although he says he won't know her exact hairstyle until her dress is finalized, he does admit that she's not one for a crazy 'do (contrary to her daring dye jobs). "It's Rachel, she never goes bonkers and we try not to work too many trends," he explains. One thing he definitely won't be giving her? A braid. "If I could get rid of one thing it would be braids," he says. Can't wait to see! Be sure to check back here Sunday night for all our Oscar beauty coverage.
