how to create the NARS lip for winter 2013.

it's becoming a seasonal thing that i consult with cindy rodriguez, NARS 413 bleecker street head artist, for weather-appropriate lip tips.  she previously shared summer 2012 and fall 2012 lip looks that i wore to death.  the woman has a talent for lipstick layering.

 NARS winter lip tips from cindy:

• keep lips moisturized and smooth during winter temperatures! NARSskin multi-action toner also functions as a great way to gently exfoliate your lips. use a flat cotton pad and go in a back and forth motion to remove any dry skin from the lips. follow with lip treatment in biana (clear) or aurore (hint of a neutral pink with a sheen) to ensure your lips stay moist throughout the day.

cindy's three all-time favorite winter lip trends are: 

1. deep and bold:  Fill lip with train bleu velvet matte lip pencil.  then apply scarlett empress lipstick to the center of the lip to add brightness to the depth of train bleu.  
2. nice and neutral:  line lip with borneo lipliner, fill with pigalle lipstick and for a little sparkle add gold digger larger than life lip gloss. you can wear borneo lipliner pencil with pigalle lipstick during the day and incorporate gold digger as an evening staple. 
3. pretty plum:  line lip with marnie lipliner and fill with damned velvet matte lip pencil. add more dimension to this matte lip by using shrinigar lipstick to the center of the lip.  shrinigar is very pretty on its own once the warmer weather approaches – it’s the perfect transition piece!
