Last night, Cate Blanchett's sideswept bangs defied gravity at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards. The look was similar to Farrah Fawcett's famous flip, but a much more modern take. Her sleek side ponytail paired with face-framing bangs is a winning style for growing out your blunt bangs. To re-create Cate's sideswept look, sweep all your bangs to one side and then curl hair away from the face and to the side. You'll create more of a flip instead of a curl. Then use a comb to feather out. Finally, hit bangs with a shot of hair spray like Oribe Superfine ($19) to ensure bangs stay in place all night. With such a dramatic swoop over one eye, Cate kept her makeup neutral with matching rosy lips and cheeks.
