Thanks to this fantastic job of mine, I got to catch up with Olivia Wilde, my newest celebrity crush and face of Revlon ColorSilk Buttercream, to talk all things beauty, makeup and hair color. Friends, she's just as nice and down to earth as you would hope and had some hilarious things to say. Here are the highlights of our convo.

Her first memories of dyeing her own hair: "I embraced dyeing my hair from an early, early age," she says. "When I was 12 I started making my way through the Manic Panic line. I went through purple, green, blue (I really liked blue). I remember at one point I was trying to achieve a sunset, I wanted to do orange into red, which is hard to do crouching over you sink!"

On her purple streaked hair during The OC: "That was a clip-in little extention thing that I kept. I still have it! It's like a little purple rat tail. Ahh...memories."

On how her makeup changes with her hair color: "If you're a darker brunette and have pale skin like I do, it can wash you out a bit so learning to contour is really helpful," she advised. "With eye make you can be a little bit more bold. Define the eyes if you're a brunette. Certainly lip colors look different with different hair shades. I remember when we were shooting the ad for Revlon Color Stay I loved the dark lipstick shade Backstage with my blonde hair. The combo had a really sort of Old Hollywood feel. That said, I also found that as a blonde, I sometimes used way less eye makeup and went for more of a natural look."

Who she considers to be her beauty icons: "I cut my hair to be Jane Birkin. I wanted to be Jane Birkin, Francois Hardy, ya know," she says. "For makeup, Anna Karina. I guess I want to stay in the 60s! The French New Wave look is good for me. I'm into it. When I was growing up, I was really into Kate Moss and Christy Turlington. No one does the natural look better. Now, the girl I really like to watch and get inspired by is Alexa Chung. I think she's fantastic in every way."

The one beauty tip she would give her younger self: "Put. The. Tweezers. Down! Ugh, like so many of us I plucked off all my eyebrows at a certain age when I was younger because I wanted to be like Kate Moss! She had the perfect wisps of eyebrows," she laughed. "So now eyebrow pencils are my friends. I always fill in my eyebrows. I don't leave the house without doing it."

Isn't Olivia fantastic? What's the one thing you won't leave the house without doing? And what beauty advice would you give your younger self?
