YBF Private Reserve Comfort Blend- reader reviewed and recommended

Until lately, I have always avoided using any products on my face containing oil whenever possible. After all, oily skin doesn’t need extra oil has been my school of thought. I have fought excessive oily skin the best way I know how: thorough cleansers and toners. It’s been a losing battle all along, however.

Cleansers that are too frequent only compound the problem, leaving my face overly stripped and sometimes even flakey, while the stripped skin only sends signals to the sebum glands to produce more oil. Knowing I’ve been fighting a losing battle by following this path, I’ve become interested in the buzz about facial oils. Although it would appear counterintuitive, applying oil after cleansing your skin can actually decrease oil production.

Since I am a newcomer to facial oils, having only tried one very recently, I was happy to try YBF Private Reserve Treatment Oil Comfort Blend ($75 in the shop). Although the YBF Private Reserve Oil has been around for a while, this is a new formulation that includes vitamin E, with a new light fragrance of vanilla. This is in addition to the antioxidants and spin trap that were already in the formula. I applied the oil after washing my face (and leaving it slightly damp) in the morning and in the evening. Only a couple of drops are needed, rubbed between the palms to warm and then applied to the face and neck with a light massage. The oil doesn’t just sit on top of the skin; it mostly absorbs, just leaving a bit of a glow to the skin. It didn’t leave my skin feeling oily or greasy.

I have used the Private Reserve Oil for a period of four weeks. (Other than face wash and eye serum, I didn’t use any other products.) The results I found throughout this time were that it kept my skin hydrated and soft while maintaining a good healthy color. A big concern for me was would it break me out, and I was happy to find that it did not. Although it did not completely eliminate excess oil production, I could tell that it did curb it, so my skin wasn’t as oily as before. Also, there were no clogged pores while using the oil.

This was a good product for me to try because it helped me to refine my ideas on skincare. Along with the visible benefits, there’s also the not so obvious inclusion of antioxidants for healthier skin, so I am pleased with the results and would recommend this product.

Ingredients: Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Spin Trap (Phenyl Butyl Nitrone), Lipochroman-6 (Dimethylmethoxy Chro- Manol), Vitamin E Succinate (D-Alpha Tocopherol Succinate) Essential Oil Blend Of Vanilla, Nutmeg, Yuzu, Rosewood
