It's not often that you see a ponytail that counts as totally new, but I think this one from the Hernan Lander show at Fall 2013 NYFW created by Paul Merritt for UNITE qualifies:
The steps?
1) Starting on dry hair, create a part from ear to ear, separating hair into two sections.
2) Pull the bottom half of hair into a high ponytail at the crown and secure with a hair elastic. Using UNITE Liqua Versa Gel apply from the nape of the neck to the crown using a comb to keep all of the hair in place. To dry the gel, use a blow dryer on a low setting.
3) Taking the hair separated from the top, tease 2-inch sections throughout, using a light misting of the hairspray to give it grit.
4) Pull all of the hair from the top and the bottom sections into a ponytail at the crown.
5) Twist the ponytail and a take a piece of string; weave it through the hair at the nape of the neck and around the base of the ponytail, securing it so it does not move.
Got it? It's a ponytail that's been twisted and then pinned at the bottom, so you almost create a handle in the back of your head—but a stylish handle, you see.
Creative, no?
