While I wasn't a huge fan of her dress, I was a huge fan of Claire Danes' Golden Globes' makeup and hair.
Paul Butler, the stylist responsible for her hair, said he drew inspiration from Claire's red-hot Versace gown and went for a modern-day Jessica Rabbit look. To begin with, take clean, wet hair and blow it dry hair with a large, round, boar bristle brush. When hair is mostly dry take a curling iron with a one and a half inch barrel and start wrapping hair section by section in loose spiral curls. Butler recommends setting the curls with Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm-Hold Hairspray.
Claire's makeup was done by Laura Mercier global artistry director Matin Maulawizada, who "decided to go with a smoky eye and not a red lip since the dress is so red." To achieve this deep dark look, he used Laura Mercier Caviar Eyeliner in Black to line her upper and lower lids and then to add more depth along the lash line he applied Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eye Liner in Black Ebony using a flat eye liner brush. Then he lined the inside of her eyes Laura Mercier Kohl Pencil in Black Gold, saying he wanted to "intensify the depth and create a contrast to her blue eyes." To complete the look he coated Claire's lashes with Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara.
His choice of a neutral, soft lip was perfectly chosen on her. He began by lining the lips using Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Hazelnut. Then he used Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Praline to add additional contour and shading. Lastly he used Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Angelic to even out the shading and create a flawless, natural look.
