ipsy January Bag - Reviews, Pictures

Last month I started anew with ipsy. They used to be myglam, but after several questionable bags I unsubscribed.  Thanks to you, my wondrous readers, I resubscribed to ipsy after you told me how fantastic the bags had recently been.  I am so incredibly glad I have resubscribed.  Last month was my first bag, and it was chock full of products I love and now currently use.  In addition, each ipsy bag subscription gives you access to special discounts on the products in each month's bag that only ipsy members can get.

It's cool enough that ipsy includes full size items and usable items, and a lot of makeup, but to offer a chance to get a discount code for future purchases?  Heck yeah that's awesome!

Let's look at what was in this month's bag, shall we?

I feel terrible that I forgot to photograph the bag itself, but it is a sturdy medium/small navy bag with what feels like a satiny fabric.  It is a decent size for larger makeup items that might not fit in the smaller makeup bags that I have, but to be honest, I use these bags to store samples, so I'm not terribly picky.  The inside has a lovely attention to detail with the ipsy brand name label stitched in.

But look at what is in the bag itself!

Hellooo. Full size nail polish and makeup brush. How ya doin' travel size Argan oil that will last me months, body butter that smells incredible and volumizing hairspray that will fit in my purse. So nice to meet you!

Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Mini Body Butter (retail $7)
This travel size (2.5 oz) is quite generous and perfect for my bedside table.  Pacifica is a brand well known to me, I have drooled over their scented products in Sephora for a long time.  Now I finally have something from them, and I have a feeling it won't be the only item I will have.  This body butter feels sensational and smells even better. I like citrus scents in the winter because they remind me of sunny summer days.  This is a terrific little pick me up for those winter blahs.  As an ipsy member,  I can get 20% off my purchase at pacificaperfume.com with the special code they provide on the ipsy website.

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil (retail approx $7)
We all know about Argan oil by now. If you haven't heard of it, you must be living under a rock.  Josie Maran is one of the leading sellers of Argan oil and Argan oil infused products.  This 5 ml glass bottle with dropper is perfect for travel and for your purse for those Argan oil emergencies that one might have.  What is an Argan oil emergency?  Well if you have to ask, consider yourself fortunate for not knowing what it is. I am particularly in love with the Josie Maran Argan Oil infused mascara, which has been sold out on sephora.com forever, so the code that ipsy gives for 15% off of $45 purchase or more at josiemarancosmetics.com will be put to good use. I needs me some mascara!

Nailtini Straight Up Color Nail Lacquer (retail $13)
Now I have no shortage of nail polish in my life, I'm almost ready for a helmer to store it all, but I certainly will not turn down MORE nail polish.  Nailtini is a brand I have heard about for a fairly long time, but never had the opportunity to try it.  Now I have an excellent opportunity with a full size (0.5 oz) nail polish!  tinibeauty has  more colors than this classic red (Bloody Mary),

they have pretty glitters and colors that aren't so traditional. Like "Rusty Nail" from their "speakeasy" collection. It's described as a "brilliant copper glitter in a sea of textured pewter".  Make that a double, please!  They also sell a variety of lip products (liptini) and eye products (eyetini) too! Oh and since I'm an ipsy subscriber I get 30% off my purchase at tinibeauty.com!  Someone is goin' shoppin' today!

Sexy Hair Spray & Play Volumizing Hairspray (retail $6)
Who doesn't need to have an extra mini hairspray to chuck in their purse or overnight bag?  OK. Maybe nuns and oil rig workers, but besides them, this little can of hairspray is pretty handy.  Given that it is humidity resistant, this kind of spray is a must have for me.  If it's not drizzling rain it's humid as heck for most of the year, It will be nice to have something that can withstand the weather here.  As an ipsy subscriber,  I can get $5 off purchase of $25 or more of "Sexy Hair Products" at ulta.com (or I can print out a special bar code from the ipsy website and get the discount in store.)

SOHO “Get a Grip” Crease Brush (retail approx $8.99)
I'm pretty picky about my makeup brushes.  They need to be "just so" for me to purchase them.  This is a brush I probably wouldn't purchase for myself. It's not that it's a lousy brush or poor quality. No, all of that is just fine. It's just too fluffy and big to be a crease brush for me.

I might use it as a blending brush or maybe for all over color, but as crease brushes go, I like something more compact.  I'm not saying this is a bad brush, I'm saying that I'm incredibly picky, and even super high end bushes don't always get raves from me.  That being said, ipsy members and the rest of the general public will find that Soho brushes are $3 off at Walgreens right now. (Discount reflected in  actual listed price in the store)

Overall another EXCELLENT ipsy bag. The total retail value of this month's bag is $41.99!  I'm so impressed. I honestly am. I am ready to recommend this with only having  received 2 bags. If you wish to subscribe, click HERE.  I will not receive any points or special favors for referring you as I don't even think ipsy has a referral program.  I have been told there might be a wait list to sign up.  I had to be on the wait list myself.  What I did was subscribe, provide my billing info and wait.  Once a subscription slot came open, ipsy notified me and asked if I still wanted to subscribe.  Once I confirmed that, it was smooth sailing from there.

What do you think of this month's bag?  Do you have an ipsy subscription?
