Now if only I could get my hands on these Alberta Ferretti shoes...
Ladies, it's time to shake off those boots get ready for some sexy spring sandals. I don't know about you, but my feet aren't quite ready for their big seasonal debut yet. So join me in trying out the following at-home pedicure tricks from celebrity manicurist Skyy Hadley, owner of As U Wish Nail Spa.
1. Do some milk pedicures. "In order to get feet ready for the warmer months, it is important to add moisture back into the heels and skin that have become dehydrated from the winter months," she says. Milk pedicures will save the day." They're easy too: Mix a half cup of hot water with one cup of milk and add a spoonful of sugar—this blend will moisturize and prevent calluses. Soak your feet for at least 10 minutes.
2. Buy a diamond file. "Working a foot scrub into your heels is a great way to remove dead skin," Skyy says. "Avoid using pumice stones, since they trap bacteria, and try using a diamond file instead. After feet are fully exfoliated, rinse, moisturize with a nongreasy lotion." Because we all know slippery feet in high heels can be dangerous!
3. Hydrate at bedtime. That's when you can slather on the super-thick stuff. "Shea butter, light oil, or Vaseline can be used to moisturize the heels and help prevent cracking," Skyy says. "Apply a cuticle oil to the base of your toenails, focusing around the cuticle area, to bring moisture into the skin and help polish last longer."
