Pardon the makeup-laden bristles!
Here are five fab brushes
These are my picks if I was to narrow my brush collection down to the five brushes that I use everyday. From top to bottom, these brushes are: Real Techniques Pixel Point Fine Liner Brush, Real Techniques Blush Brush, MAC 138 Brush, Real Techniques Buffing Brush, Real Techniques Powder Brush. I was once an avid MAC brush collector, and you can see that Real Techniques has taken over my beauty arsenal by storm! For reasons why see below.
Real Techniques Pixel Point Fine Liner Brush (£6.99)
This little skinny brush enabled me to regain confidence and my love for gel liners. The bristles are expertly cut and just the right length. They are firm enough for very precise applications. The lightweight extended aluminum handle is very light and easy to use. I love using this with my MAC Fluidlines. You can also use this with concealer to cover up dark spots.
Real Technique Blush Brush (£9.99)
This brush earns top marks for both ease of use and softness of bristles. The Real Techniques Blush Brush is a dome shaped brush made of soft synthetic fibres. The aluminum handle is very light, easy to use, and comfortable to hold. The fibres pick up just the right amount of product for a flawless blush application. You can use this for contour as well but I much prefer the next brush for that purpose!
MAC 138 Brush (£39)
This is a large dome shaped brush with a pointed tip and round chiselled sides. It is excellent for sculpting the cheeks and contouring the temples. I have two of these babies and I have not found a better brush for this purpose!
Real Techniques Buffing Brush
This buffing brush is from the set of four brushes in Real Techniques Core Collection (£21.99). It allows a flawless application of foundation with pretty much an airbush finish. The extra plush fibres are so comfortable to use and when I use this with round circular motions feels like a massage! I've only used this with liquid foundation such as NARS Sheer Glow, I am yet to use this with cream or powder finishes.
Real Techniques Powder Brush (£12.99)
I love using this extremely soft powder brush to apply powder to set my liquid foundation. It's massive size makes it easier and faster to cover my entire face in just 10 seconds! It has the perfect brush density and is super affordable.
