Do you remember the first fragrance that really made you sit up and take notice? For me, it was 1988, and the perfume was Exclamation by Coty. The moment I laid eyes on it, I simply had to have it!
Truth be told, I'm pretty sure this fragrance could have smelled terrible and I still would have wanted it. I just loved the shape of the bottle, which was an oversized black and white exclamation point. (What can I say? I've always been obsessed with all things grammar, punctuation and spelling.) And, actually, I really don't even remember what it smelled like, although I recall a certain muskiness, which by today's standards would equate to me hating it.
But love this fragrance I did ... and buy it time and time again, I did! The notes of jasmine, apricot, green, peach, bergamot, orris root, heliotrope, lily of the valley, rose, sandalwood, amber, cinnamon, musk, vanilla and cedar just made me exclaim with glee! I wore this fragrance every single day, not really because of the scent but because I just loved that exclamation point shaped bottle so darn much.
And here's a fun fact ... Famke Janssen was the model in the ads! Check her out:
