We still haven't had time to fully process all the amazing hair and makeup that happened at last night's 2014 Met Gala (here's our best-of recap), but one thing is clear: Rachel McAdams wins the best blowout of the evening/possibly ever.
Have you ever seen such bouncy, swingy perfection? Sigh, swoon...
To complement Rachel's floor-length Ralph Lauren gown, hairstylist Ben Skervin went for a young, modern take on a polished '40s/'50s hairstyle. And he was so kind as to share his how-to instructions! Here you go:
1. Prep damp hair with mousse (he used Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Boost & Lift Foaming Air Mousse), applying it throughout the hair for weightless bounce and a light hold. Then blow the hair out with a round brush.
2. Separate the hair into six sections, with four sections in the back and one section on each side of the front. Set each section on a large hot roller and spritz with hairspray (he used Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Flexible Hold Hairspray). Leave the rollers in for 10 to 15 minutes.
3. Once the rollers have cooled down, brush each section out with a round brush.
4. To finish, spray dry shampoo (he used Vidal Sassoon Pro Series ColorFinity Dry Shampoo in Rich Darks) liberally on the roots and ends of the hair to help break up the texture and give it a bedhead yet glamorous feel.
Is this the blowout of your dreams? Does it make you want to try hot rollers again sometime really soon?
