Here are three of the brand new NARS Satin Lip Pencils. These are massively pigmented lip crayons that offer the lipstick experience in a pencil form. I'm a pretty hardcore NARS fan when it comes to eye and face color, but I've never been fully satisfied with their lip products until now. The Satin Lip Pencils hit all the right spots: they're very very creamy (no dryness whatsoever), have a great slip (they do transfer, especially when first applied before they set, and longevity is moderate) so they just glide over the lips and don't emphasize any issues (a scar, in my case), have no detectable scent or taste, and they wear comfortably, leaving behind a distinct stain. I only got these yesterday, so perhaps it's early to make major announcements, but I'll go out on a limb and say that the pencils are my favorite NARS lip product so far.
The shades I have are Golshan (an almost brown based burgundy), Luxembourg (a pink-based red, kind of watermelonish), and Rikugien (a nude rose, perfect for a no-makeup look if you're me). They're mostly opaque, including the much lighter Rikugien and very easy to apply in a hurry (these are chubby pencils, so they cover more surface). Of course, lip color in pencil form is wonderful on the go and is less prone to dings and melting, so it's a great travel companion.
Bottom Line: my next NARS purchase will include the one in Hyda Park (a true red).
NARS Satin Lip Pencil ($25 each) are available from narscosmetics.com and is arriving at the counters as we speak). The products for this review were sent for my consideration free of charge.
