The sexy, sparkling eye makeup Emma Stone wore at yesterday's premiere of The Croods demonstrates a handy little trick you might not have tried—layering two different types of eyeshadow.
As you can see, Emma's eyes were dramatic in their glistening depth, but they weren't too over-the-top. "Since it was a daytime premiere I wanted Emma's makeup to feel fresh and playful," explains makeup artist Rachel Goodwin. "I used warm metallics to create a softer version of a smoky eye." Here's the trick to this softer smoky look: She layered a metallic cream shadow over regular brown eyeshadow."I worked a warm brown shadow into her lash line and up into the crease, and added a bronze cream shadow over the powder for a subtle shimmering effect," Rachel says. "I finished by curling her lashes, then applied two coats of black mascara to both the top and bottom lashes."
Interesting eye makeup technique, right? And, of course, you could go lighter on the shimmer for your non-Hollywood events.
What do you think of this twinkling layered-eyeshadow look on Emma Stone? Would you wear eye makeup like this?
