Eager to try blue eyeshadow this spring? Wait, let me guess. You're groaning and saying to yourself "pass, that's soooo 80s." But whatever happened to an open mind, dolls? Our friends over at Birchbox turned to makeup artist Nico Guilis, who's come up with a list of must-try shades I bet will make you want to reconsider.
Light: Before you think about shadow, apply a color-correcting primer like Benefit's Stay Don't Stray (this works for all skin tones) to give you an even canvas, suggests Guilis. He then recommends using a cool periwinkle or a silvery grey-blue like MAKE Satin Finish Eyeshadow in Blue Toile.
Medium: A turquoise hue sets off warmer skintones, Guilis says. My personal fave? MAC Powerpoint Eyepencil in So There Jade. A date night-worthy touch is adding a shimmery shadow like Chantecaille Papillons Eye Shade to the inner corners of the eyes.
Dark: Trying a smoky eye for night? Guilis suggests swapping the usual black for a bold midnight or cobalt like NARS Outremer, which will radiate on dark skin tones.
