When I was sent some items from the Lise Watier Spring 2013 Pastel Power Collection, I was terrifically excited. I was excited not only because they included a pretty blush and some highlighting beads, but also because they included a nail polish, or nail lacquer as they call it. Why was I so excited over an ordinary nail lacquer? Well, to understand that, you need to understand me.
I'm a bit of a magpie / toddler / ADD individual when it comes to new makeup and new makeup gimmicks. Now I'm not calling this a gimmick, per se, but it is unusual. You see. Lise Watier has a built in LIGHT in the cap of the nail lacquer!

OK. I know many of you are not impressed by that, but I can tell you that I have not seen a light up nail lacquer cap in ages. In fact, I have not seen one this bright ever. The tiny LED light can be turned on and off by clicking a button in the top of the cap. As you apply your nail lacquer the light makes t easy to see the edges and possible places that you might miss if you were applying the nail lacquer in less than desirable polishing locations. (Like on a couch while watching Elementary on TV. Drooling over Johnny Lee Miller. He's such a cutie pie!)
Anyway. I'm a magpie, and I'm attracted to bright, shiny things. The inset light in the nail lacquer cap is an epic win for me! I'll just say that right now, so you know. I am impressed by the little things. Lights in caps. Automatic Ice dispensers in the fridge, cruise control. No. I'm not some person transported from the 1800's in to the future and is in awe of all the technology. I just like the ordinary things that make life's little annoyances, just a bit less annoying. That's all.
OK. The nail lacquer itself, well....I wasn't a fan of this color, nor was I of the formula. I do have another Lise Watier nail lacquer with the light up cap that I do like very much, and the formula is different. I think that because this was more of a hybrid frost/creme, and it was a pale color to boot, it made the application a bit tricky. You see, I hate Visible Nail Line, or as I call it VNL. When wearing nail lacquer, I like and prefer the opaque look. The Lise Watier Nail Lacquer in Power Punch is a sheer peach color with a fine white shimmer. The result is a sheer wash of color on the nail with a white shimmer adding depth to the overall look of the nail lacquer. However, because it is sheer and because I hate VNL, I HAD to add three heavy coats to the nail to hide that dreaded VNL. I will say that even though I used three heavy coats on my nails, they still dried fairly fast and with no dents or smudges. I didn't even use a top coat. I wore the Lise Watier nail lacquer in Power Punch on my hands for almost three days, without a top coat, and there was no chipping or tip wear. That is impressive, even if I didn't adore the formula.
The color is just not for me. It looks add against my skin tone and made it look like the edges of my fingers were dirty. I think this color is better suited to someone with warmer and darker tones in their skin color. Lise Watier does have a second nail lacquer with their Spring Collection. That one is called Power Grey and it looks more my speed. I have about 47,534,057 grey nail lacquers, so one more, with a light up cap, would undoubtedly complete my collection. I plan to purchase that one it soon!
Do you NEED this? Maybe. I wasn't impressed with the color or the formula, but like I said, I have own other Lise Watier Nail Lacquers with the light up cap that do have a good formula. So I'm torn. I would not recommend this specific color to those with fair skin and pink tones. However, those with neutral to warmer tones in your hands, you might like this color. I can't say I would purchase this specific color, but I do love the light up cap so I can recommend other colors from the collection of nail lacquers with the light up cap. The Lise Watier Pastel Power Nail Lacquer in Power Punch is a limited edition and retails for $13 USD at www.lisewatier.us.
What say you? Is this a color that speaks your name? Do you like the light up cap? Cool or unnecessary?
