Sephora+Pantone Universe Color Theory Shadow Block in Bionic

I was pretty excited about the Sephora+Pantone Universe Color Theory Shadow Block in Bionic($31 CAD) when I received it for two reasons:

1. The colours in it! That navy! And that emerald green! So pretty!

2. HELLO it's called Bionic! You're reading a blog written by a girl who WORSHIPPED The Bionic Woman, aka Jamie Sommers.

source: Bionic Wikia
I mean how could you not? LOOK at her-CLASSIC 70s beauty! I always thought she was WAY prettier than Farrah Fawcet. The character was awesome: an ex pro tennis player that because of a sky diving accident got bionic parts and became a spy. AND her boyfriend was the Six Million Dollar Man. Okay, so she couldn't remember him, but still- coolest BF you've ever had Jamie, right? And in the end, they did get married and live happily ever after. YES I watched the 2 hour movie event when that happened and cried tears of joy.

So yeah, I was expecting A LOT out of this little Sephora+Pantone Universe Color Theory Shadow Block in Bionic, especially since I LOVED the one in Elemental I reviewed here

The palette is the same idea with magnets that keep the lid on and you just slide the top to open the compact. And there's a slide out mirror underneath the palette as well.

The shades in the Sephora+Pantone Universe Color Theory Shadow Block in Bionic are Emerald(matte), White Asylum(shimmery), and Crown Blue(matte). Personally, I'd rather the shimmery White Asylum have been the smallest amount in the palette because it's full of BIONIC shimmer and honestly can't see myself using it for anything more than an inner corner highlight. But that's me. Maybe you can rock the Ice Queen look and wear shimmery white on your lids which makes me jealous of you, but these ageing eyes of mine can't.

Crown Blue, White Asylum, Emerald
The Emerald shade is FANTASTIC. Pigmented and really nice! White Asylum is well, shimmery. Crown Blue is well....let's just say if you're going to use this for anything else besides lining your eyes then you'll be sorely disappointed like me. It's pigmented enough, but it just doesn't blend well at all. I tried my best to blend it out in the look I wanted to create, and this is about as good as I could get it to look after at LEAST 15 minutes of blending. I'll tell ya, I SURE wish I had a BIONIC arm to help blend these shadows!

See what I mean? It's not so blendable that navy. Okay, MAYBE I was a bit ambitious. But I really wanted to try and create a dramatic look with just the Sephora+Pantone Universe products:

I'm wearing the Sephora+Pantone Universe Color Theory Shadow Block in Bionic on my eyes, the Sephora+Pantone Universe Color Theory Sculpting Blush, and the Sephora+Pantone Universe Colorbyte Lip Wand in Cameo Brown that I reviewed just over a week ago. I wanted to show how well all the products work together, which as you can see they do, but the Bionic Palette is just so hard to work with that I can't tell you in all good conscience that it's a must have. There's just so many better matte eyeshadows out there compared to these ones.

I do think that navy and emerald together is a KILLER BIONIC shade pairing though! They go together so well, just like how the Bionic Man and Woman were meant for each other. Too bad it's not in this palette though.

Anybody else LOVE watching The Bionic Woman too? Dudes, I even had a LUNCH BOX with her on it. I was hardcore!

*Disclamer: I was sent this product to review by PR/Company. Love it or leave it, but my review and opinions are my own thoughts and words, thank you very much.
