Hi everyone,
Before there were matte nail polishes and mattifying top coats, there was another way to make your nails matte— using steam. This technique is really easy, just make sure your nails are wet and be careful not to burn your hands! Check out my 1 Minute DIY Matte Nails (and ramen tutorial!) in the video below:
I just showed you how to mattify your nails using the steam method. But if you’re away from a pot of boiling water or just want to have a matte top coat ready to go, try the baking soda or cornstarch method. For this method, just add a little cornstarch or baking soda (about 3 teaspoons) to a clear top coat and mix it in really well. Now you have a top coat that will dry to a matte finish over any nail color!
You can also create an entirely new matte nail color using eyeshadow and clear or white nail polish. Crush a bit of eyeshadow into a fine powder and blend it into your nail polish. The more eyeshadow you add, the deeper the color will be. The finished product will be a matte nail polish that’s the color of one of your favorite eyeshadows.
Now that you’re ready for a matte manicure, here’s some matte nail art you may want to try:
Have you tried the steam trick or any other mattifying methods?
