I know mostly all of you ladies have heard about the oh so popular Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser and the blogosphere certainly does not need a 94567829089th review on it, but I could not resist the opportunity to try it for myself when I was very kindly offered to be sent Liz Earle 4 Piece Essential Discovery Collection from QVC! This handy little kit contains the Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser (50ml), Instant Boost Skin Tonic (50ml), two Skin Repair Moisturiser (Normal/Combination and Dry/Sensitive, 15ml each) and two Muslin Cloths.

Unlike most cheap gel cleansers, the Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser one has a nice thick and creamy consistency and it does not foam - it reminds me a lot of Burt's Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream. Since the Hot Cloth Cleanser actually feels like applying a face cream, which is not what I am used to, I was worried my skin would not be totally cleaned after use, but I absolutely love how it is not left oily at all - it feels perfectly clean, soft and smooth when I am I done exfoliating it with the muslin cloth. It never feels dry, despite the hint of menthol I can smell.

Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

The interesting thing about this plant-based cleanser is its two-phase action. I start by applying the product on dry skin and massaging gently to remove all traces of face and eye make up - even stubborn mascara! - and to stimulate the circulation. Then, I polish off the cream using the pure muslin cloth to gently dislodge dead skin cells and help reveal clean, soft and radiant skin. I like to splash my face with water after removing the product, before soothing and toning my skin with the Instant Boost Skin Tonic, which does not contain alcohol and is enriched with cucumber and vitamin E.

It is interesting that the Essential Discovery Collection contains both versions of the Skin Repair Moisturiser so you can sample them both and decide which one works better for your skin type. Personally, since I have dry and eczema-prone skin, I prefer to use the Normal/Combination version in the morning since it is lighter and is absorbed faster than the Dry/Sensitive version, which is a nice welcomed treat at night - it also works really well as a face mask (apply in thick layers without massaging it in, and remove the ecxess after ten or fifteen minutes).

I have been using these products for about a month now and I have noticed that my patches of eczema have been eased and they flare up less often, especially after I exfoliate with the Hot Cloth Cleanse and use the Skin Repair Moisturiser as a face mask. This is a huge improvement for me, and I will be sure to stick to this routine for a long time!

Liz Earle 4 Piece Essential Discovery Collection is available on QVC for £22.50.
