A few weeks ago, I had a facial. It was my first one in over a year, and it seemed like a good idea. A spring cleaning for my skin! It turned out to be a terrible mistake. A few days post facial, I broke out with a few giant spots that no amount of concealer could fix. These pimples had me recalling those rough high-school skin days. Anyway, that skin debacle got me thinking: Do we really need facials, or are a few, really good products enough for maintenance throughout the year?
In a recent interview, Courtney Love (I think that by know you all know my love for this lady) talked about how she has seen every facialist and claimed "what makes a good facialist isn’t creams, it isn’t anything they use, it’s how many fucking extractions they do—I learned that from Marcia Kilgore [the founder of Bliss] a long time ago. I had to leave there with a big red face because she got all of my pus out. I don’t want to hear about their fucking products—I just want them to get all of the pus out of my face. That’s it."
I had a few extractions during my facial, and as I already stated, the results were awful. Am I the only one who's had this experience post facial, or have you had the same? Do you eschew fancy facials for tried-and-true products? What's your beauty secret? Discuss!
