Though I initially thought it was too thick – mostly (I suspect) because it wasn’t cold enough to warrant that sort of heavy texture – I ended up liking Max Green Alchemy’s Naked Rescue Cream ($19.95) very much.
The consistency, although lovely and velvety, is off-putting at first since it’s VERY thick and feels more like a hand cream. But the acid test for me is applying to clean but dry skin in the morning without first having taken a shower, while racing to put on exercise clothes, and... It passed with flying colors and really did the trick for most, but not all of the day.
I live in a very dry climate (dry in winter, humid in summer), so it’s extremely tough on skin. By the end of the day, after exercising, racing around and sitting at my desk working, my skin is dry again. As a result, I have to slather on body creams and lotions again after showering. Sometimes I even put a body oil underneath to stay ahead of the game.
One always hopes to find a cream that will last but this rarely happens; however, the Naked Rescue Cream definitely holds its own. One aspect of the product that I really appreciate is that it is unscented. What a wonderful thing! It also has a superb list of ingredients (see below) – it is made from “pure plant origins,” with a good percentage of organic ingredients as well. It’s also paraben free, lanolin free and steroid free (a slightly surprising addition to the list of frees).
My other favorites are La Mer (I know – what a rip-off, but it works), Caudalie’s Baume Gourmand Corps (works beautifully and much cheaper than La Mer but has a slightly cloying scent), Dr. Hauschka’s new Regenerating Body Lotion and Fresh’s Seaberry Restorative Body Cream. I may order more of this because I am so happy about the lack of scent. The other thing is that I think it can be used on the face, which if you don’t require a panoply of stuff for your face, might make this a great travel companion. If you couldn’t tell already, I’m VERY fussy about body creams, consistency, scent, etc., and I really do like this one.
