I think my house was built on one giant ant hill because if anyone drops even a crumb before you can find it, my kitchen gets invaded by ants. In fact, the day we moved here, I got welcomed to the neighborhood with a pitcher of ice tea and an ant trap.
The ant trap was hardly that effective. Insecticide sprays followed because I hated the site of those ugly insects parading around. Unfortunately, almost like they were mocking my previous attempts, the ants stood their ground. Again, that method might have stunned some of their comrades, but it was nothing to write home about either.
Other than being extremely careful and attacking with just so-so ant killing sprays and traps, I thought my house would be a great testing ground for the new Combat Ant Killing Bait Strips Kit when Purex offered this project.
Instead of just killing directly any ant intruders with a spray, this bait strip is designed to target the nest or colony from which they came. This insecticide attracts ants as tempting food for them to dine on before carrying back some to share with their many-legged friends.
All I did to instigate death was to first to break the strips apart. The variety for ants is sold in five bait strips.
Next, I peeled the adhesive backing.
Finally, I found the spot where I saw those ants emerging from and then placed the strip near my kitchen baseboard. The only thing left was activating that bait strip and waiting.
I kept coming back to my kitchen to check if they found their poisoned dinner yet, but they just must have eaten. However, a little while later, I saw them feasting. Occasionally, I checked the progress of my tiny guests and noticed less bait remained on the strip.
Once the ants cleaned up that poisoned plate over the next day, I didn't see any more in my kitchen since.
