I don't know about you, but I'm a little nostalgic when it comes to Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. It was an important part of my first real skincare routine (yes, Clinique's famous 3-step program) and I used to soak my face in this stuff when I was growing up in rainy Seattle. So, when I heard Clinique was giving their beloved lotion a major makeover, I had mixed feelings. One the one hand, Clinique hasn't updated this product since it launched 45 years ago so it makes sense they would want to improve it but also, I'm hoping they don't mess with it too much (because it already works well for so many people).
“One of the reasons that we actually wanted to change the product is that the world changed,” Lynne Greene, an Estee Lauder group president, told WWD, adding, “The world has changed and how does this product meet the new world? Skin gets dehydrated faster today in this world because of the pollution and [other] factors. We needed to put more hydration into the product.”
The new DDML was put through 100 formula tests over more than six years. WWD reports that there was a 50 percent rise in hydration and 54 percent improvement in moisture barrier. "The moisturization was amped up by adding contemporary ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin and urea. The moisture barrier, which prevents hydration from escaping, was strengthened by adding sunflower seed cake, barley extract and cucumber extract."
Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ will cost $1 more when it debuts in August. Are you looking forward to checking it out or a little nervous that this moisturizer won't be the same?
