If you know me, it's no secret that I'm a HUGE Trekker. I've been watching the various incarnations from the Star Trek franchise for DECADES. Heck, I think I can safely say over a CENTURY now... holy geeeeeeezzzzzz...
To say I'm excited about the next movie, Star Trek: Into Darkness, is an understatement. I can hardly wait until May 17, 2013. The countdown is ON. I'm already stalking the online movie ticket site to buy my tickets!
To bide the time until that day, I thought it would be fun to start a Beauty of Star Trek series, looking at various Star Trek ladies and characters and their makeup, then creating my own version-not an exact replica- of that character's makeup look.
Fun, yeah?
This week, I'm going to start with ONE of my fave aliens in the Federation, Jadzia Dax from Deep Space Nine played by Terry Farrell.
From Wikipedia: Jadzia Dax is a joined Trill. "Jadzia" is the name of the young Trill woman, while "Dax" refers to a slug-like symbiont that resides in her abdomen. While Jadzia is 28 years old at the beginning of the series, the creature Dax is roughly 300 years old, having previously been hosted by seven other Trill. The two share a single, conscious mind, and her personality is a blending of the characteristics of both the host and the symbiont. Jadzia holds degrees in Exobiology, Zoology, Astrophysics and Exoarchaeology and is the chief science officer on Deep Space Nine.

Science Officer is my DREAM JOB in the Star Trek Universe and Dax was such a cool character. I loved how Captain Sisko would call her "Old Man" sometimes, because he actually new Dax before he was joined with Jadzia-when he was Curzon Dax.
The spots on Dax were hand painted EVERY DAY by makeup artist Michael Westmore and it took over an hour to do. I still can't believe he didn't create a stencil and airbrush them on! Terry Farrell says one of the reasons they decided to put the marks on her was because it toned down her rather large forehead haha! In this pic, Dax has a berry lip tone on and some purple eyeshadow which I love because it was rare to see colour on Star Trek ladies. Also, her BROWS OMG-talk about brow envy! I sure wish I had them brows!
For the eyes, I applied Burberry Antique Rose all over the lid and swept it out into a v shape. Then I took MAC Nocturnelle and blended it over the lid. On the bottom lash line I used a combo of Burberry Taupe and MAC Omega to softly define. MUFE Sculpting Blush #12 is a great neutral pink blush. I love this blush and need to use it more often!
I don't have a berry toned lipstick in my stash, but that's because I couldn't really wear one so well with the bright red hair. So I mixed Marcelle Cleopatra and MAC Captivate together and on my lips they became a pretty berry shade WHICH I can now wear. I'm kind of excited about being able to wear more colours on my face and lips again!
I started to draw in the Trill markings, but as I got to the side of my face, I realized that I couldn't really see properly to keep on drawing them, so I gave up! Mine aren't as neat and precise anyways-it's a lot harder to do than it looks I tell ya, and I can see why it took so long every day to paint them on! I actually really love the soft smokey purple shadow look with the berry lips. Well, minus the Trill marking of course! Although, I kind of like them -they really do kind of slim down your forehead!
This was fun and I can hardly wait to try some more!
Are you excited about Star Trek Into Darkness too?
