Have you ever had such a bad hair day that you wished you could just buzz all your hair off? Well, Alexandra Shipp did—but for a dream role. The actress is starring in X-Men: Apocalypse (out May 27) as Storm, a badass superhero with a "badass" silver mohawk. So, Shipp is not only talented but she's also that girl who's gorgeous and cool enough to rock a shaved head. She gave us the lowdown on what her post-buzz life is like, including a whole new beauty routine and a lot less time in the shower. Below, the five most surprising things she learned from the experience.

1. You'd be shocked by how many women out there also have a buzz cut. "From the minute I shaved my head, I started to see so many girls with shaved heads too. It's like when you're about to buy a car and you get it...and then you realize everyone around you has that exact same car. Whenever I see someone else it's always like, 'Hey, fist bump, girl!'"

2. People perceive you differently. "People won't mess with you if you have a shaved head. I guess I'm carrying on the Storm spirit. Storm is definitely a rock star. She is such a badass. And the mohawk is so cool."

3. Makeup becomes way more important. "Since I shaved my head, I can't hide behind my curls like I used to. Suddenly your eyes become the focal point. So, now I have to figure out how to do my own makeup. I love the Benefit They're Real Mascara in the silver tube. That stuff makes me look like I have baby doll lashes, and I love it. I needed mascara that would really make them pop—and this does it. I use tinted moisturizer, fill in my brows a bit, and then just use the mascara."

4. Showers are so much faster. "I'm really liking the shaved head. I kind of think that every woman should shave her head at least once. It's so liberating, and my showers take two seconds. There's no waiting for my conditioners to soak in. I'm so low maintenance right now."

5. But there is one unexpected downside: The struggle with dandruff is real. "I didn't know you had to moisturize your head. I found that out the hard way by just scratching my head one day, and my scalp was so dry, it started to flake. You can use lotion on it, but I actually just like to do a quarter size of coconut oil. I rub that over my hair at night, and then I wake up in the morning with hair that is nice and shiny. It smells amazing and leaves no flakes."
