Zendaya Responds to Julie Klausner's Body Shaming After the Kids' Choice Awards
We really don't understand why this keeps happening, but yet again Zendaya has found herself the target of mean-spirited criticism. After attending the 2016 Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday in a prettily embroidered dress and gorgeous retro-waves, Zendaya quickly became the focus of a cringe-worthy, body-shaming rant courtesy of Julie Klausner, creator and star of the Hulu original comedy series Difficult People. Instead of praising Zendaya for her killer red carpet look—or, you know, her activism—Klausner skinny-shamed the actress and implied that she suffers from an eating disorder.
First, Klausner retweeted an image of Zendaya at the Kids' Choice Awards with the caption, "a thinspo model for your impressionable tweens." Then after fans fired back at her, she went on to write a lengthy series of tweets further attacking the star:

As we've learned, Zendaya's not one to stand down when wronged. During the Giuliana Rancic dreadlocks fiasco that Klausner's Tweet references, she stood up for herself in a memorable long-form response. And remember her outrage that time her thighs were crazily photoshopped? So it came as no surprise that this time, Zendaya once again took it upon herself to shut down the comments via tweets of her own:

Although we loved this comeback, the real winning comment came when she promoted peace of mind for all body types:

Meanwhile, while Klausner hasn't retracted her statements or issued any kind of apology, she says she's learned to be more thoughtful with her comments moving forward:

Having naturally straight Oriental lashes, I've always been envious of my Indian and Afrocaribbean friends. Every now and then I catch myself staring at their mascara-less eyes, wishing I had that natural curl myself.
And then, thanks to the blogosphere, I discovered the lash lift. Quickly typing away 'lash lift' at Treatwell.co.uk, I searched for a reasonably good lash expert based on reviews and stumbled upon Jade from London Lash Studio and signed up for a treatment.
The procedure took about 50 minutes. The therapist meticulously treats your lashes while you relax lying semi-flat with closed eyes. I opted for a blanket for comfiness. There were short-lived ie half-to-one minute episodes of stinging, but the procedure itself was relatively painless.
I chose to get 'the biggest curl possible', that is my eyelashes are curled closest to the roots. As my eyelashes were noted to be quite long, she suggested going for 'the medium curl' but I persisted for the super one. Fifty minutes later I opened my eyes to the most fluttery lashes I've ever seen, and I felt so happy they were mine!
The curl is said to last between 6-8 weeks. Good aftercare is important to ensure they last longer. There is a patch test at least 24 hours before the actual treatment which I recommend you attend to ensure your skin doesn't create an allergic reaction to the reagents used.
As for my therapist herself, I highly recommend Jade. She was brilliant, straight-forward, fuss-free, and meticulous. Just the way I like people handling my eye area. And no, this post was not sponsored.
