Don’t pack up your shadows after the soda bread has gotten stale. This year, the experts at the Pantone Color Institute have proclaimed Emerald the color of 2013. “The most abundant hue in nature, the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Institute in an official statement. (Except if you’re colorblind. Sorry, canines and colorblind humans!)

“Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal, and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world,” she adds. “This powerful and universally-appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.” And, of course, cosmetics as well—the color is everywhere now. Take a look at your emerald options below, for St. Patrick’s Day and beyond!

Sugarpill Loose Eyeshadow in Junebug

This stunning loose shadow comes in the signature Sugarpill pot. A chameleon-green with a gorgeous shimmery finish, it is sure to make you catch the bartender’s eye as you order another round of Guinness. Use with a primer for extra-pigmented staying power.

Lit Cosmetics in Hulk, Mary Jane, and Army Brat

Glitter is HUGE right now, so jump on the sparkle train with cult favorite Lit CosmeticsHulk is a vivid emerald glitter, Mary Jane is more of a springtime weed-green, and Army Brat is a classic dark hunter-green. Buy all three in the Beautylish store and get the Lit Kit free with your order, which includes the Glitter Base, a small Round Brush, and the glitter-be-gone Spark-L Duster.

Inglot Shadow Matte in 385

If glitter and shine aren’t your thing, try a more subdued, sophisticated shade in Inglot’s highly pigmented 385. A matte emerald shade in Inglot’s classic formula, it is a favorite of makeup artists. Use a bullet brush in the crease for an eye-widening accent color, or sweep all over the lid for “don’t-pinch-me” glam.

Do you have a favorite green shadow you’ll be sporting this St. Patrick’s Day? Share in the comments! Enjoy your green beer, and don’t forget to pinch responsibly.
