Manicures are a weakness of mine, but I just don't have time for regular appointments each time I want to change my color or style. Actually, I only have a manicure occasionally since I was taught by the professional manicurists on set how to do my own manicures at home that look just as good as professional. It's actually extremely cheap.
Have you all fully recovered from the season finale of Scandal? Are you missing it already? Maybe a little DIY hairstyle inspired by Scandal star Kerry Washington will help.
Here's the updo that I fell in love with, seen here on the gorgeous Kerry.
And here's an easy how-to for my take on the look.
1. Start by pulling your hair back into a ponytail.
2. Divide into three sections, just as you would for a standard braid.
3. Now twist your hand downward and start to braid.
4. Take the right side to the center.
5. Now take the left side under.
6. Repeat this motion to create a rope braid. Finish the braid with a small elastic.
7. Now for the fun part; Take a small piece of hair the size of a thread and pull the braid up to the base.
8. Secure your hair with bobby pins.
Pull the top to add some soft volume--it'll keep the look easy and not too fussy.
That's all there is to it!
